Hanguker Privacy Policy
Hanguker is an app for practicing short Korean speaking phrases from topics you choose. This policy explains what information Hanguker collects, how it is used, and how you can request deletion of your data.
Hanguker does not store raw audio or recognized speech transcripts by default.
Information We Collect
If you sign in or create an account, Hanguker may collect your email address and an account identifier, such as a Firebase user ID. This is used for sign-in, account-scoped app data, abuse prevention, and support.
Hanguker may store practice settings such as level, practice mode, preference, cue sound setting, voice setting, and review storage preferences.
When you create practice phrases, you may type or select a topic. Hanguker uses that topic to create Korean practice phrases. Recent or frequent topics may be stored locally on your device. Operational events are designed not to store raw topic text by default.
Hanguker may store generated Korean phrases, English meanings, saved review phrases, recent review history, and difficult review history so you can practice again later.
Hanguker may store limited practice summaries, quota counters, and usage events such as completion status, result counts, timing buckets, and reliability events. These records are used to run the service, monitor reliability, prevent abuse, and manage provider costs.
After public launch, Hanguker may use sanitized account activity to understand whether users reach a first practice experience and return on later days. These records may include app version, platform, release channel, anonymous event and practice-journey identifiers, authentication action type, and content-free daily activity. Owner, quality-assurance, closed-test, and automated-test accounts may be marked for exclusion from public product metrics.
Sanitized measurement events and practice summaries do not include the raw topic, generated phrase text, email address, raw audio, or recognized transcript. A small content-free delivery queue may remain on the device for up to 7 days when the network is unavailable.
Speech Audio And Recognized Text
During speaking practice, Hanguker may process your speech audio to support feedback on the current practice phrase. Speech audio may be sent to a speech provider for processing.
Speech technology may produce recognized text while evaluating a practice attempt. Hanguker does not store recognized speech transcripts by default and does not return transcripts in normal app responses by default.
AI, Speech, And Cloud Providers
Hanguker uses service providers to support app functionality, including authentication, account-scoped data storage, AI phrase generation, speech-to-text or speaking feedback, and text-to-speech audio generation.
These providers may process data such as account identifiers, topic text, Korean phrase text, or speech audio only as needed to provide app functionality. Provider API keys are kept on the backend and are not included in the mobile app.
What We Do Not Store By Default
- Raw audio recordings.
- Recognized speech transcripts.
- Raw provider responses.
- Provider API keys in the mobile app.
- Authentication tokens in logs.
- Raw audio or transcripts in usage events or practice summaries.
How We Use Information
- To provide account sign-in and account-scoped app data.
- To create Korean practice phrases from topics you provide.
- To play Korean audio and support speaking feedback.
- To save phrases for review and remember settings.
- To enforce usage limits, monitor reliability, prevent abuse, and manage provider costs.
- To respond to support, privacy, or data deletion requests.
Retention
Account email, account identifiers, settings, and saved review data are kept while your account remains active or until you remove the data where the app supports removal. Review history is limited by your app setting, with a default maximum of 100 phrases or 30 days.
- Practice summaries: up to 90 days.
- Sanitized usage events: up to 30 days.
- First public practice activation profile: up to 90 days.
- Content-free public activity day records: up to 45 days.
- Daily quota counters: up to 45 days.
- Monthly quota counters: up to 13 calendar months.
- Generated text-to-speech cache audio: up to 30 days.
Operational records become eligible for scheduled deletion after the periods above. Deletion is asynchronous and may take additional processing time. Aggregated or de-identified information that can no longer be associated with an account may be retained.
Raw audio and recognized speech transcripts are not stored by default.
Your Choices And Data Deletion
You can choose what topics to practice, avoid entering sensitive personal information, use listen-only practice when speaking is not convenient, and remove review phrases where supported.
To request deletion of your Hanguker account and associated data, use the Hanguker Account and Data Deletion page. Requests are handled manually with a current target of completion within 7 days after the account can be verified. The routine retention periods above do not delay deletion of account-associated data after an eligible request is verified, except for the limited records described on the deletion page.
Children
Hanguker is intended for Korean beginner or early learner users who can use an English interface. The app is not designed as a child-directed service.
Security
Hanguker is designed to keep provider API keys out of the mobile app, protect account-scoped data with user ownership rules, avoid storing raw audio and recognized transcripts by default, and limit operational logs and summaries to sanitized information. Changes To This Policy
Hanguker may update this policy as the app changes. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated when the policy changes.
